The Basin Wildcats Basketball Club – Child Supervision Policy for Training Sessions
Effective Date: 02.06.2025
Issued By: Steve Geddes – Club President
Child Supervision and Responsibility During Training Sessions
At The Basin Wildcats Basketball Club, the safety and wellbeing of all players is our highest priority. To ensure a safe
and respectful environment during basketball training sessions, the following policy applies to all parents and
guardians. Parental/Guardian Supervision Requirement
• Under 8s and Under 10s:
All children in these age groups must be always supervised by a parent or legal guardian during training. If a
parent/guardian is unable to attend, it is the responsibility of that parent/guardian to arrange for another
trusted adult to supervise their child for the duration of the session.
• Under 12s and Older:
While players in Under 12s and older age groups may begin to demonstrate more independence; it remains
expected that a parent or guardian (or other appropriate supervision) will be present. Individual coaches
may choose to excuse this requirement, but any such arrangement MUST be discussed with the coach at
the start of the season and may be subject to review as the season progresses. Parents must ensure their
child is acting safely and respectfully while attending training.
• Please note that the Coach and Team Manager are responsible only for players during the active training
session on the court. Outside of these periods—before and after training—the Coach and Team Manager are
not responsible for supervising children.
Behavioural Expectations
All players, regardless of age group, are expected to:
• Show respect to Coaches, Team Managers, fellow players, and all venue staff.
• Treat the training venue and its facilities with care and act responsibly at all times.
• Refrain from any disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful behaviour before, during, or after training.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in a child being unable to participate in training and/or game
sessions. This measure is in place to ensure the safety of all children and the effective operation of our training
programs.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide a safe and positive environment for everyone involved.
